Tommy Gainz: Forget your PR to PR
Whether you just got out of college, had a kid, new job, etc, something big in your life changed. Because of these changes, your performance in the gym probably took a dip. It’s enough to make you go crazy, I was crazy once.
Luckily, our boy Tommy Gainz has some advice for the everyday lifter: PR Framing. I encourage you to watch the full 1:43 video, but basically he points out that when you’re in school and/or working anything other than a fulltime job, your lifts were probably great because you didn’t have to focus on much other than getting by and training.
That can be pretty discouraging if you’re not able to hit weights that were easily done the previous year. To combat this, simply forget they happened, and make your new PRs the ones that you’re hitting with your current lifestyle. If you’re doing better in other facets of life, you’re gonna be good.
This applies to lifters whose lives/careers don’t depend on their performance. If your paycheck depends on your being strong, go gym.
@fathergainz Beat the person that exists to today, dont give up because of the daunting shadow of achievements from someone who doesnt even exist anymore💪🤝

Other categories of Men’s Open, Men’s Physique, Bikini, Fitness, and Figure will be announced later today, check back with Fitness Volt after results are posted.
Max Taylor Wins 1st Bodybuilding Show
Natural bodybuilder and influencer Max Taylor took 1st place in the open middleweight class, but just missed qualifying for a pro card.
From what I understand, Max didn’t have an actual coach for this show; which makes his performance all more impressive if true.
Looking forward to seeing what he does naturally and how he looks if he goes full enhanced gang.
Brian Shaw Wins Shaw Classic
With Brian Shaw’s Strongman career coming to a close, this year’s Shaw Classic was an important one. Brian Shaw finished 1st with 96 points, Mitchell Hooper 2nd with 89 points, and Tom Stoltman 3rd with 82 points.
According to Fitness Volt, Shaw will not be taking the prize money and will instead spread it amongst the other competitors.
Barbend wrote a great summary of all 8 events and the competitor’s performance, definitely worth a read.

Need for Schneef: Preworkout
I put out a short video last week talking about the product from WantABump.com, which is an energy supplement that you snort.
The product comes in vials that contain 40mg of caffeine and 60g of inositol. When I made the video, I took 2 seconds to Google it, read that it was used for OCD, depression, etc, and threw it on the video.
A lot of people in the comments pointed out that inositol is a common ingredient in supplements and energy drinks, and is also used to cut/dilute cocaine. Inositol is usually referred to as vitamin B8, but if “Vitamin B8” is on a supplement that’s supposed to be cool and revolutionary, it takes away some of the appeal.
What I’m guessing is that WAB added inositol for two reasons. First, to add more powder in the vials without making it a lethal dose of caffeine to snort. Second, to reduce the potential nasal damage that comes with snorting pure caffeine.
Interesting stuff.
The Brita Lawsuit
A lawsuit was filed against the popular water filter company Brita (owned by Clorox of fucking course), for false claims that it’s filters remove arsenic, nitrate, hexavalent chromium, and certain “forever chemicals", from tap water.
“Brita takes the transparency of the variety of water filtration options we offer seriously. Our products include a standard filtration option that improves taste and odor of tap water and is certified to reduce identified contaminants as communicated. For those consumers looking for water filters certified to reduce PFOS or PFOA, the Brita Elite pour-through and Brita Hub are both certified to reduce PFOS/PFOA, as well as lead and other identified contaminants.”
The lawsuit, filed by a singular California resident, specifically takes issue with their advertising claims including “Reduces 3X Contaminants,” “Better water for you. Better water for the planet,” and “Fresh filter = fresh water”
My thinking is that Brita may win the lawsuit on a technicality, because they may point to their “levels” of filters and what they clean out as they did in their above statement.
Rafi’s Desk
In case you haven’t already, check out Rusted Iron Bodybuilding on IG. Just did an Almost Monday collab with them because I love what they bring to the feed.
The bio reads: “An appreciation of the art, fashion, vibe and camaraderie that male and female bodybuilding used to entail.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
In other news, starting a new thing on the newsletter where you guys can get a chance to win some free shit. Monday Iron has the “official partners” of Protochol Beverage, Crystal Pump, and Underdog Energy. But I’m still interested in making connections with other companies and giving back to you guys.
I’ve been thinking about how to go about it for a couple days, then Super-Supps Fitness Industries happened to be doing a pop-up shop at my gym yesterday. The guy who runs it seems solid, and the preworkout they showcased seems good if hydration is a focus for you.
Especially in the morning, I mix raw electrolytes that I order from Bulk Supplements in with my preworkout anyway, so this made sense. It’ll be a giveaway exclusive to email subscribers, and it’ll start next week.
So if you or someone you know wants to be a part of future giveaways to get your brand out there, shoot me a message or an email.
Have a banger week, til next time.
