BPI Buyout, Andrew Eubanks Warehouse Sleeping, Ryse Hydration

Classic format and a small life update

GM,

We got ourselves a classic format here, more similar to when the first newsletters were going out. This week we got Derek back on Joe Rogan, Andrew Eubanks switching up his video style and sleeping in his warehouse, and more details on the BPI acquisition.

The elites tried their hardest to keep it away from us. They even had the original manufacturer take Crystal Pump’s money and run. Sick shit, but we are back, despite the horrors.

If you’re looking for a preworkout that emphasizes clean caffeine, mental clarity, and sick pumps, check out this week’s sponsor: Crystal Pump.

Some of the Monday Iron gang have already tried it and loved it, give it a shot. Orders ship the week of Nov 6.

It’s not a preworkout, it’s an experience.

Thank you mustache man, let’s get into this week.

Let’s get into it.

BPI Buyout Finalized

Back in September, BPI Sports filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, with Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals and Mike O’Hearn included in the list of creditors that were owed money. As opposed to shutting down, Chapter 11 Bankruptcy allowed BPI to stay in business while restructuring their debt.

Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has been BPI’s primary contract manufacturer for over a decade (PR Newswire); and as of Dec 1, they have recapitalized and taken ownership of the BPI brand.

“We look forward to unlocking the full potential of our globally recognized brand and continuing to offer our customers the iconic products they have loved for over a decade, and launch new, innovative products in the near future.”

Chris Mckenzie, CEO of BPI

Both BPI and Hi-Tech Pharma’s leadership have put out statements expressing their optimism for the brand given their manufacturing capabilities, brand recognition, and distribution.

Hi-Tech Pharma also owns or has recently acquired iForce Nutrition, APS Nutrition, LG Sciences, ALR Industries, Formutech Nutrition, Innovative Labs, and Sports One (Linkedin).

Derek Returns to JRE

Derek from More Plates More Dates made his second appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience to discuss a ton of shit once again including the state of Canada’s media censorship, banned substances, and more.

I’m only about halfway through it but so far it’s another banger.

Andrew Eubanks Sleeps in His Warehouse

Fitness YouTuber Alex Eubank put out a video last week updating his audience on his current living situation. Long story short, short term AirBnbs aren’t working, he can’t get approved for apartments, so he’s trying to figure that out.

And towards the end of the video, Alex started on the age-old rant about how “school should teach us about credit and not chemistry,” due to how his own credit is affecting his ability to find a new place.

Although the common pushback of “parents used to teach that, so it’s not the school’s job,” is valid, I see where Alex’s take does have some merit.

I’m in the same situation because I completely fucked myself with all of that, but I also know/ have known that credit education is pretty simple: Don’t spend more than you earn, pay off the card at the end of the month.

And while that is pretty simple, I don’t think the actual consequences are effectively drilled in people’s heads until they actually happen (me). You can go into the details of how your score is affected and all that, but that one line will keep your credit in a good spot if nothing else. But it’s like a lot of things, life tries to teach you the easy way, you don’t learn, then it makes you learn the hard way.

The level of in-the-hole this guy is has to be insane because I’m guessing that he’s making a lot of money through his programs, YouTube, merch, etc, so I can’t imagine what the credit limits are like if he’s not just paying it off.

Something I noticed was his video’s style has a calmer, less edited style to it, a far cry from the normal Mr Beast type shit that many YouTubers including Alex have been doing for awhile. There’s nothing wrong with adjusting video styles to the market, content creators often have to. The timing of the style change is just interesting to see.

RYSE Enters Hydration Space

RYSE is getting into the hydration supplement space competing with products like Liquid IV promising superior hydration and better taste compared to plain water.

Supplements brands used to market their BCAAs as their answer to hydration, but that practice seems to be shifting as they opt for new products that resemble less-niche hydration products like Liquid IV.

Similar to Liquid IV, RYSE will have a bulk bag available as well as single-servings hydration sticks.

Gorilla Mind, Prime, Kaged, and even Ghost now have either powders, sticks, or ready-to-drink hydration products that aren’t specifically marketed for exercise; rather every day hydration or for a hangover treatment.

Rafi’s Desk

The matrix will simply not stop attacking me IRL, but I have navigated it to the best of my ability so far. I’ll go into detail someday because it feels batshit, but there’s a reason why I was on a fucking tear regarding content from the end of November to December 5th. I was unemployed and my car was totaled, so what else was there to do 💀

It’s just insane because it all seemed to happen at once. My roommate has been on the way out for a minute, so I’ve at least been able to prepare for that rent jump. But then, I get into a car accident and get cut out of my remodeling/contracting work (get shit in writing if you go into business with someone, even if you know them well) all within a couple days.

Needless to say, the last week has felt absolutely fucked, but on Wednesday I had some divine intervention involving where I work now, and I’m lucky enough to have a family that was able to come visit and make sure that I was good until I get this whole situation figured out.

Once this whole thing is wrapped up and I’m out of this phase, I’ll go into detail about everything. No sense in recounting a story that’s not finished.

But as my boy Patrick Bet-David says, future looks bright. More often than not, you’re not going to get a test from life that you aren’t capable of handling, that’s how I’m viewing this.

Hope you’re all doing well, and I hope you have a great week. We go 🦅
